Minimalist Video

Minimalist Budget Analysis
Video Installation, 10 minutes

In partnership with Boston Arts Academy students

Arnheim Gallery, Massachusetts College of Art, Boston

Minimalist Budget Analysis is a stark impression of the artist’s role as creative individual and money manager. Juggling the forces of tight budgets and deadlines the artist responds to the challenge to creatively work with individuals and within set limitations. The piece is structured in numeric patterns: two tracks of video are arranged in alternating sequence. The minimal budget – 50 one-dollar bills – is analyzed in various counting patterns, referencing simple mathematics, the creative process and the passing of time. Interjected are clips portraying the design and installation of an art exhibition. Artist and curator negotiate set-up, surrounded by the bustle of PR activity and the installation team. Furnished with table and chair, and a symbolic dollar bill placed in this minimal workspace, the projection narrates the story like a flashback.
